@NicoleJay77 most people don’t realize King entered college at the age of 15.

King was such a gifted student that he skipped grades 9 and 12 before enrolling in 1944 at Morehouse College, the alma mater of his father and maternal grandfather.

I always start my episodes off with some "interesting facts", researching the story of his speech and the March on Washington kind of blew me away. For example, the speech was initially an afterthought, all the work was going into planning the March on Washington instead, so he didn't finish it until 4am the night before he gave it! Probably most amazing is the entire "I Have A Dream" section was ad-libbed, supposedly he was inspired after hearing singer Mahalia Jackson yell "tell them about the dream, Martin!" from the crowd. Also, John F. Kennedy and his entire administration worked very closely with King and the other Big Ten march organizers throughout the entire planning process, and what was initially planned to be 2 days of mass sit-ins turned into the March as we know it after extensive discussions between them. King and the Big Ten also met with Kennedy directly after the March. Kennedy wanted to see the event go well and very much hoped it would add to the political and public will necessary to pass his Civil Rights Act. He died before it was passed, but it was the direct precursor to the Civil Rights Act of 1964.
