The officer has the right to ask you to identify yourself, even as a passenger of a car.
However, you are not required to provide a physical ID and you can instead provide your true name and address.
When an officer requests that a person identify themselves pursuant to investigating a traffic infraction, that person must identify themselves and provide a current address. However, if the officer has no reason to contact the passenger regarding any sort of investigation, the passenger is not required to provide identification.
