Privacy Policy

My Post (3).png

Welcome to the REYETS mobile application (“App”), which is designed to allow you to make and share recordings of civil and human rights related encounters. The App also helps you connect with organizations, news, legal, and other community resources with the intent to assist you in protecting your rights. Users may receive an alert when a nearby user is recording a police stop. Recordings are stored on the users' mobile device and may be backed up to the users' cloud service. Optionally users may submit and share recordings within the apps Community features. We will use submissions to increase public awareness of and monitor civil rights violations.

REYETS is committed to protecting your privacy. This Privacy Policy summarizes the information this App collects, how we use it, and the limited circumstances in which we may disclose it.  By using this App, you acknowledge and agree to this privacy policy. If you do not agree to this privacy policy, please do not use the App.

Recordings

Recordings are intended to contain documentary evidence rather than to communicate a request for legal assistance. Do not share Recordings anything you intend to be kept confidential. We do not treat shared Recordings as confidential or protected by attorney-client privilege.

As described below, we may share or disclose part or all of the recordings you share with us to any person or organization, or directly to the general public, if we believe such a disclosure would further the App’s purpose and the REYETS mission of protecting rights and civil liberties.

With the broader public without identifying information

We may disclose your shared Recordings or information from your shared Reports (including the location of an incident you reported), but not your Registration Information or any other information that we think might identify you, to anyone where we believe such a disclosure would further the App’s purpose and the REYETS mission of protecting rights and civil liberties, including, but not limited to:

  • News organizations and other members of the media;

  • Courts, legislators, law enforcement agencies and other government officials;

  • Partner organizations working to protect civil rights, civil liberties, or human rights; or

If we are required to disclose your information in response to a legal demand and we have information that enables us to contact you, we will do our best to provide you advance notice and offer you a copy of the legal request, unless we are prohibited from doing so by a valid court order. We will fight to ensure you have a right to know if the government demands your information from us.

In an emergency

We may disclose your information in certain emergency circumstances, including where we believe doing so is necessary to prevent imminent and serious bodily harm to a person.
