Hello. I'm a Reyets intern attending the University of Maryland Baltimore County (UMBC), pursuing my Bachelor's in Political Science. Growing up in Silver Spring, I have volunteered in a wide variety of venues, from summer camp counseling and tutoring at all postsecondary levels, to serving as an election judge and legal aid for an immigration law center. These experiences have given me a profound appreciation for people of every racial/ethnic background, financial status, and so on, because every person deserves to have the resources needed to achieve a good quality of rights.
That's what makes social justice work so important for me. I know the experience of living within a racial minority, and observing the struggle by ancestors, and peers have overcome to be considered full citizens in this country. The first step in exercising those rights is to know them, My career interest is to study civil rights law, and become a leading attorney handling major cases which will change existing laws and prove the need for new ones. Reach out to me any time with questions about civil rights related issues, and Reyets and myself will answer them. We're all in this together!
