how about instead of trying to "decrease sex crimes" by opening MORE strip clubs, we work on protecting the sex workers that risk their lives every day by going to work at the venues that ALREADY exist? smh. also any man that "needs access" to women in order to avoid committing literal sex crimes should not be ANYWHERE NEARRR a female presenting person. they are disgusting and need severe counseling instead and no contact with the public. ok i'm done lmao

maybe i'm missing the message, but trying to combat the systemic issue of sexual violence by INCREASING the commodification of the female body for men's pleasure is absurd to me. what about the enormous amount of abuse that sex workers face every day? just because a woman chooses to profit off of her body doesn't mean that she is automatically not victimized by sexual violence. (this is my personal opinion) The normalization of sex industries like pornography, prostitution, and stripping has been masked under the new wave of feminism's guise of having women "take back" their bodies and be "empowered" through catering to male fantasies. While I am 100% in support of the women who FREELY choose to work in these industries (given that the choice to become a sex worker was entirely theirs to make and they were GROWN adults), I am very much against the perpetuation of the patriarchal structures that allow industries like this to flourish so greatly. It is EXTREMELY rare for a sex worker in any of these aforementioned industries to have a career in which they never become a victim of a sex crime at the hands of their clients. you CANNOT combat the issues of sexual violence by increasingly normalizing the industries that show women as objects to be gawked at by men. this article made me very mad lol

this sadly doesn't surprise me. there's too many stories of the abuse of underage girls in the modeling industry, especially from the early 2000s. I hope conditions have improved as times have changed, but no doubt this type of mistreatment still exists today
