The governor thinks giving doctors, nurses, and EMTs the right to object to treating patients is fine because of "the federal laws that prohibit discrimination." Without the Equality Act, that doesn't automatically include LGBTQ people.

I had to put the space in before the "L" to get past the overly sensitive profanity filter. hopefully they fix that, or perhaps start reviewing stuff by hand, because inability to write completely innocuous sentences in a reasonable discussion is the kind of thing that makes people leave a platform as soon as they show up, and i'd like this platform to succeed.
Last year the Supreme Court decided in Bostock that the inclusion of the term "sex" inside title VII's anti-discrimination provisions precludes private discrimination in employment based on gender identity and sexua l orientation discrimination. (here a reading of that case's syllabus) Bostock v Clayton Co (Title VII -Transgender/***) (buzzsprout.com) I do not expect that any competent federal court will find that discrimination in a possibly life-threatening situation should be LESS protected than discrimination in employment. TLDR: This will be over-ruled soon, and to my LGBTQIA+ friends, I'm sorry you have to put up with it for even a day, it's garbage, it's logically and legally unsupportable and anyone who had anything to do with this should have to re-do kindergarten.
The bill even mentions employers who provide health care as part of their employees’ compensation – even they can ask that employees be denied a specific medical procedure, as long as they claim that their “conscience” requires them to.
Pretty fucked up.
Inhuman, every person deserves respect and healthcare regardless of their sexual identity. It makes me sick to my stomach to think healthcare professionals would refuse anyone in need of care.
Pro-life, meaning forcing people to give birth.
Pro-life, meaning taking control over women's bodily autonomy
Pro-life, meaning make mothers go into poverty from childbirth with no programs to support and make childcare affordable.
Pro-Life meaning no paid family leave to care for the newborn baby.
Pro-Life meaning insisting on no birth control or prophylactics to help prevent an unexpected pregnancy .
Pro-life, anti-healthcare. All lives matter, except lgbtq, black, etc...
Makes sense 🤦🏽♂️
