Two House Republicans have launched a new caucus designed to defend free speech specifically as it relates to college campuses. Reps. Jim Jordan of Ohio and Kat Cammack of Florida created the new caucus, which was announced on Monday morning, and are planning to bring awareness to what they characterize as an unfair environment for conservative students on college campuses.

I call BS …Can we stop aciting like we don’t know what it is… they are being called out on their racism, bigotry and hate. Not all ideas are created equal. The racist’s are jumping and hiding behind the Conservative bandwagon.
The truth is conservatism is already negatively effects the lives of black college students, we don’t need more of it, we need less.
Need an example? ever wonder why there’s so much resistance to paying college athletes many of which are black and brown? Could the answer be that its opposition to redistributing wealth to black brown people?
Think I am crazy?, according to
research:
Americans are more likely to express opposition to paying college athletes when compared with similarly resentful whites who were primed to think about whites. Because free-market conservatism, resistance to changes in the status quo, opposition to expanding federal power, and reluctance to endorse government redistributive policies cannot possibly explain these results, we conclude that racial resentment is a valid measure of antiblack prejudice. 🤯
I worked on campus, this was not an issues at all. On most campuses, the authority to invite outside speakers is shared by student groups, academic departments, and university programs, and most of the time the schools are sensitive to appearing bias, so they tend not to say no, unless it’s over the top extreme or hate speech.
Both public and private campuses should be open to a wide variety of academic and popular opinions and should foster a culture where speech and reasoned debate are seen as the best tools for confronting mistaken, wrongheaded, or hateful ideas.
The issue is in recent years extrem conservative voices, that use to be on the fringe are now becoming the base, and they are crossing over into hate speech.
Heres a good resource to advocate against hate speech on campus:
I read the article, the issue I have with this is that the it does not include any factual evidence that this is a problem? How many campuses have denied a consérvate speaker that students invited? Instead they use anecdotal evidence to create this illusion of suppression. i don‘t believe consérvate voices have any trouble being heard on campus or in the media. This is just a political maneuver to signal to their base… nothing to see here time to move on.
