The Emmet Till Antilynching Act finally passes, after being rejected more than 200 times since the 1900s. The vote finished 422-3, with 221 votes in favor and 0 against by the democrats, and 201 in favor and 3 against by republicans.
The bill is named was named after a 14-year-old black teenager from Chicago who was abducted, tortured, and shot in the head in 1955, after he allegedly whistled at a white woman.
