i took a class called the mathematics of politics last year that covered every type of voting method and the advantages/disadvantages. To me, the most logical one for the presidential election is first past the post as long as we're still a two-party system. the candidate with the most votes should be the winner, further complications are unnecessary for a 2-candidate race in my opinion.

Neither. I think each candidate should get a percentage of the electoral votes in each state equal to the percentage of votes they received.
