The Minnesota House of Representatives passed legislation with bipartisan support Monday that would make it illegal to discriminate against someone because of their hairstyle. After a series of incidents where employers ban hairstyles worn by Black employees like afros, braids and dreadlocks, and proceeded to fire those who refused to cut their hair, this bill will
allow more people to show up as their authentic selves in school or in the workplace without fear of repercussions because of their hair.

When society can't act decently and fairly, such black & white laws, sadly, need to be enacted. The circumstances that led to this bill should have not happened, and I believe, could have been addressed under anti discrimination laws, or workplace fairness laws. What's next a specific bill for face tattoos, facial hair, piercings....
