How do we advocate for rights, even when we disagree with how they are being exercised?

For example: We all have the right to protest and to exercise that right freely over specific conditions. However, when that protest threatens democracy, how do we continue to set an unbiased standard that doesn't jeopardize one's rights? What's your thoughts?
