Can I be fired from my job because of my gender identity/sexuality?

Updated: Jul 5, 2022

Legally, no.

There have been cases where employers will get around this law by stating that they are firing you for reasons unrelated to your gender identity or sexual orientation.

In June of 2020, the United States Supreme Court ruled in Bostock v. Clayton County, GA that the Civil Rights Act of 1964 extends to work place rights for the LGBTQIA+ community. So, from a legal standpoint, you cannot be fired for your gender identity or sexual orientation.
